It has been while hasn’t it fellow Air Max enthusiasts? People have been coming to me all the time and asking “what happened to Air Max Mondays?” Well to be very honest with you…nothing at all! You can only talk about the same sneakers with various material and colourway changes so long before people get sick of them. In my mind what we needed to keep things going is a new design…a NEW Air Max…something that would change the game or at least get us talking again. To say that we have been waiting for something to change the game is MASSIVE understatement, especially when we are speaking about Nike Air Max family right at this moment!

Well my fellow Air Max lovers we finally have a sneaker worthy of being featured again…introducing the COMME des GARÇONS x Nike VaporMax. Oh yes…they went French on us with these beauties! I don’t even know where to start with these joints…but I will say THANK YOU, finally something new!

For those of you that have been off the radar for a while not too long ago Nike unveiled their new VaporMax Air Unit technology. A very incredible looking piece of technology, but you would hard pressed to see it on many sneaker yet. That being said the COMME des GARÇONS x Nike VaporMax made their debut to the world during the CDG Paris SP17 collection runway show and people have been talking about them as well waving their credit cards since! This gem of sneaker is a beautiful collaboration between famed designer Rei Kawakubo and Nike.

The first thing that you should notice about the COMME des GARÇONS x Nike VaporMax is that they are laceless. Oh yes, that’s what I said LACELESS, this is not something that you see often if not EVER in the Nike Air Max family at all but it is a welcomed addition for sure!  To protect the Air units a secondary rubber layer was put around them to serve almost as insulation, but when you look at it is still looks like one whole VaporMax Air unit. Like many of the new releases that have come on the market from the Nike camp, these sneakers utilize the Flynit upper to keep it look very sleek and clean.

The COMME des GARÇONS x Nike VaporMax are scheduled to be released in early 2017 and judging by the look of them…they will NOT be cheap at all. Often with Nike and their collaborative partnerships you will be looking at something very exclusive which also follows with a hefty price tag…but in this case I really don’t care…I WANT THEM!
