Is New York The Mecca for Sneakers?

Flight Club NYC

New York has sat firmly on the top of the list of big market cities from the beginning of time. Taking center stage for fashion, sports and business. But, does it hold the title as the Mecca for Sneakers? Starting with the bare basics, what other city comes to mind when you think of style, music and history which are all evident within the sneaker culture? Why does it sound cooler to say “I got these kicks in New York.” Instead of “I got these kicks in Wisconsin.” I’m not knocking Wisconsin but many cities won’t match up fairly to the allure of New York.

I don’t know too many sneaker heads that end up empty handed when traveling to the Big Apple. I’ve managed to score three pairs of shoes within moments of getting off the train. But does having popular sneaker stores that carry limited releases and a gang load of styles such as Flight Club and Dave’s Quality Meat give New York the edge?
